Pops worked for Houghton Mifflin managing the sale of books to schools across the state of North Carolina. In this role he was able to form many relationships across the state by remaining the friendly and kind person he is. While his wife Dianne served as a preschool teacher for over thirty years teaching almost all the kids that came through Centenary United Methodist Church. Pops received many awards for the number of books he sold as he became one of Houghton Mifflin highest sales earner yearly.

While Jamie would play 4 years on the tennis team at Mount Tabor. They would all go on to attend the University of North Carolina, with all becoming sucesfull on their respective fields. As Rob is a lawyer in Charlotte, Scott was a banker for 20 plus years and now owns Fed Ex distribution centers. Growing up we spent many summers coming to visit Winston Salem playing putt putt, going to the mall, and eating K and W breakfast. During this time it was easy to see why Pops and Gramms were a staple in their neighborhood organizing clean ups, easter egg hunts and many street parties. This extended even past their neighborhood with them being key parts of their church and many other places across Winston Salem.
